The good news is that the 'Icelandic Volcano' is no longer rated as newsworthy, despite all the misery it has created over the past two weeks.
Ultimately, stranded passengers were returned home by a variety of transport, the Sun newspaper bought passengers home by the coachload, and Celebrity Cruises sent their newest ship 'Eclipse' to Bilboa to pick up stranded holidaymakers. And 'Ryan-Air' made themselves extemely unpopular, and the next day, did an 'about-face'.
The alternative to flying, is obviously to cruise, and there are a number of companies that will cruise to Iceland, if you have the urge to visit the spectacular scenery, with the added danger of the 'sister ' volcano erupting. Two of the companies are: Fred Olsen, and Princess Cruises. With Fred Olsen, you can visit Greenland and Iceland, or have an Icelandic Adventure. Princess Cruises offer the options of Fire & Ice, (which is quite ironic) or Iceland & Greenland. Both of these companies offer a range of excursions with the cruise, but I guess no-one will be wanting to take the chance to visit the volcano........
